From Out Of My Music Box – a selection of feedback about the album…

“Loved your CD. A beautiful collection of reflective pieces, and you’ve obviously got great rapport with the other players. Lots to like on it – your Waltz for Oz is stupendous (I also liked the 6/8 piece earlier on). As well as Abide With Me, did I not hear a reference to Bach’s Minuet in G in there as well; which like much of Bach’s secular music has a tinge of sadness if played sensitively? Wonderful stuff.”

“Everyone who has listened to your CD has absolutely loved it – it’s right up there with lots of Blue Note Stuff. Do you have another one planned? And when is your next gig?”

“Just put your LP on the turntable and it’s sounding very warm. …. Just coming to the end of side A – reminds me of when I first heard Kind of Blue. What a complement! … And the Waltzing Matilda interpretation makes a melancholy ending to a very fine piece of vinyl.”

“I’ve just listened to your album right through. It’s really lovely. Beautiful ensemble playing, tightly together yet relaxed and free, & not a single duff track. Echoes of Getz, Brubeck. Night Rain in B&W probably my favourite on first hearing, but others may come through on re-listening. They’re all good. Thank you.”

“Your CD sounds fabulous! My favourites are Images Arabesque, and the Rondo. Some of the earlier songs remind me of the Miles Davis record, “Birth of the Cool”. That’s some lofty company to keep.”

“I’m driving around this afternoon a lot this afternoon and very much enjoying listening to your CD in the car. For me, the standout so far is Images Arabesque. Really like the 2 Bossas, especially Bossa do Verde – somehow it has a feel of “waiting”, though I don’t know why. Matilda, although quite melancholy, is beautiful. I can hear how much effort you all must have put into the album.”
